HISTORIC BACKGROUND

In 1851, the first post office opened its doors to the population of the Bois-Francs region. In 1911, the latter was relocated in a new building constructed in the Second Empire style and was named L'hôtel des Postes. Some fifty years later, the post office closed its doors.

In 1995, the Société du Musée Laurier (Laurier Museum Society) purchased this patrimonial building. Following some significant works, the Pavillon Hôtel des Postes was inaugurated in June 1996. Since its opening, a variety of artistic exhibitions have been presented.

THE LAURIER'S: FRIENDS OF THE ARTISTS

Wilfrid Laurier and his wife, Zoé, have always enjoyed being surrounded by artists such as Suzor-Côté and Alfred Laliberté. As a matter of fact, when the Musée Laurier opened its doors in May 1929, these two artists offered many of their works in order to furnish the house. In the same spirit, the Musée Laurier has been presenting artistic exhibitions from 1929 to 1996. Since 1996, however, the artistic exhibitions have been presented at the Pavillon Hôtel des Postes
